Every construction project of buildings, roads, and bridges require tons of crushed stone and other material. Without using suitable crushing and screening equipment, this is an impossible task.
What is crushing and screening equipment?
Crushing machines work in coordination with screening machines to break down huge chunks of material into smaller pieces and sort them into batches that are uniformly sized. While they make a great pair, they can also be used independently.
Crushing Equipment
Crushing is the process of breaking down large pieces of construction material into smaller ones by the application of pressure. Crushing equipment consists of machines that are used to reduce the size of materials.
Most crushing equipment like rock crushers are equipped with heavy jaws or plates used to pressurize the material that is being fed to the machine’s chamber. These machines are employed in rock quarries, mineral processing, mining, and recycling operations.
Screening Equipment
Screening is the process of filtering that groups similarly sized materials. The smaller ones pass through the filtering screen while the larger particles are retained above it. Screening equipment contains a drive that vibrates, a screen mechanism that separates particles, and a deck that holds and transports this entire set-up.
There are two kinds of screens based on raw material – dry screens and wet screens. Dry screens use only vibration while wet screens have nozzles that spray water along the screen during the filtering process.
The different machines used for screening in construction sites are:
- Trommel screens
- Vibrating screens
- Disc screens
- Grizzly screens
- Revolving screens
- Banana screens
- Elliptical-motion screens
- Horizontal screens
- Inclined screens, and
- Mobile screens.
